Papers include photocopied reproductions of both primary and secondary materials relating to the history of Dr. John Connolly. Primary documents include a copy of Connolly's 1744 journal (originally from the Chalmers Collection relating to Indians, 1750-1775), and copies from Peter Force's American Archives. Included are photocopies of articles by Percy B. Daley, F.R. Diffenderfer, Clarence Monroe Burton, Neville Craig and William Egle.

Dr. John Connoly was born in Pennsylvania in 1743. He trained as a doctor and moved to the American frontier in 1762. He came to Pittsburgh in 1774, where he sided with Virginia during the boundary dispute between that province and Pennsylvania. His actions in Pittsburgh led to violence between white settlers along the frontier and the Indian nations of the Ohio country.
